True Legend, Unsung Musician - Eva Cassidy

The New York Times spoke of her "silken soprano voice with a wide and seemingly effortless range, unerring pitch and a gift for phrasing that at times was heart-stoppingly eloquent."

I couldn't decide on correct words to describe how I just love Eva Cassidy since my first encounter with her music. It was Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' cover she made that melts my heart. It was her golden crisp voice that had me at hello. I then ventured deeper to her musical wonderland with Songbird, Over The Rainbow (how she changed the arrangement if this song is unbelievable), Fields of Gold. She made even the simplest song sounds wonderful. Strum of guitar and that heavenly voice of her, is hands-down great music to me. I found her on 2004, she was long gone then. But her talents flourish like yesterday's seed.

Unlike well-known Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy WAS not as fortunate. She died at age 33 of melanoma. She is the classical example of posthumous fame. Her song topped UK chart 12 years after her passed. She became phenomena, a wake up call, the discovered undiscover.

Blix Street Record just recently released her best-of album titled Simply Eva. Consisting 12 songs.

Songbird
Wayfaring Stranger
People Get Ready
True Colours
Who Knows Where the Time Goes
Over the Rainbow
Kathy's Song
San Francisco Bay Blues
Wade in the Water
Time After Time
Autumn Leaves
I Know You by Heart

I would love if Fields of Gold is in there too. But I can't complain if these line-up already possessing me.

By the time my Winamp plays her Track 10, Time After Time. I choked. I shed tears... involuntarily. Because her rendition is just beautiful and evergreen it sends renewed shivers every time.

I listened to this song since 2004, and falling in love again and again. According to my iTunes, this is the highest repeated song. 517 times within 3 years I installed that software. I think I played it much more than that, in my mp3 players at most.

Rest in Peace Eva Cassidy...
