Artist Review: Angus & Julia Stone

Magical Voices + Magical Lyrics + Magical Song + Good Looks = Magical Creatures = Angus & Julia Stone

It is hard to hate them if their musics are soooo freaking great. Angus may try to look such messy and Druid-ry instead of clean shaven to ensure people judge his music not his look; or maybe he is too freaking busy making good music. It his penetrating voice that gets to me everytime. And Julia, where do I start with her, she so astonishingly beautiful and her voice (she can kick Lenka off her ass)...this is where I supposedly speechless. What did the outback did to them? They produces music with minimal instruments with results nothing short of amazing.

I seriously and seriously recommend this sibling duo above The Veronicas and Tegan & Sara or Aly & AJ simply because they have a voice of both gender beyond the hype of The White Stripes. Vocal dynamic and harmony of Yin & Yang *exaggeration intended*

I came to know them *thankfully* as soon as I subscribed to Nettwerk Music channel in YouTube. I was curious about 'Mango Tree' and 'The Beast' song so I downloaded the video. I am a big fan ever since. Dude, seriously how else can I convince you? You should listen to their music, I insist.

Chocolate & Cigarettes (EP 2006)

From Chocolate & Cigarette my favorite tracks are 'Mango Tree' and 'All of Me'. The rest are just as good and impactful based on your personal taste.

Heart Full of Wine (EP 2007)

In Heart Full of Wine, my personal picks are 'What You Wanted' and 'I'm Yours'.

A Book Like This (Album 2007)

In 'A Book Like This' my favorite tracks are The Beast, Wasted, Just A Boy, A Book Like This, Silver Coin.

Down This Way (Album 2010)

Down This Way is my personal favorite of all. I love all the songs. I love all the songs. I love all the songs *I can do this forever*. This is by far the greatest album I ever heard since KT Tunstall's 'Eye To The Telescope' and Sarah McLachlan's 'Afterglow'. This is the album that have me digging their previous albums just to study when did the awesomeness actually begun. And I am officially STONED. Who needs narcotic when you can actually be high on this. I can talk about this album like forever, but I insist you to at least download this album for goodness sake. You wont be sorry, I promise. This is how LOVE supposedly written into songs. If TALENT have a language, it'll sound like this...at least to me.

Here's the playlist:

Hold On
Black Crow
For You
Big Jet Plane - sang by Angus. Previously in my playlist, just magical.
Santa Monica Dream
Yellow Brick Road
And the Boys
On the Road
Walk It Off
Hush
Draw Your Swords - sang by Angus. Previously in my playlist, just haunting and sends shiver to your spine and reduced you to tears.
I'm Not Yours
The Devil's Tears - previously in my playlist, speechless.

This album got favorable and rave review from major music reviewing websites like:
Allmusic - 3 1/2 over 5 stars
The Guardian UK - 4 out of 5 stars
Daily Music Guide - 4 out of 5 stars

And now they are back again with a mixed of old and new songs in 'Memories of an Old Friend'. Well their song surely brought back all the memories, sweet and wonderful memories.
