Gravity: On (Unlikely) Philosophical Ground

Good Lord this entry is going to be booooring. I dare you.

God knows how much I love gravity. We should love it why not? It is the reason you keeping your feet on the ground (literally). Earth downward gravity force on you is your weight on a weighing scale. It is the key to your existence in physical form; you know you are alive because you have weight. The obese surely understand how their ‘presence’ really apparent.

On Religion

To me, our spirit is nothing but consciousness. It is not bound to earth by planetary gravity but to other kind of gravity called RELIGION. Religion is nothing without GOD. We human are connected to GOD by religion. GOD is the Ultimate and Powerful Gravity Source because HE touches our heart and soul when we could not even see HIM. This gravity force (not forcefully) HE has on us called IMAN.

Spirit is not soul, soul has weight, Noetic science proved it. It weighs 1/3,000th of an ounce according to East German scientist. On later account, Dr Duncan McDougall measured it as 21 grams.

On Decision

Gravity is the reason you make particular decision, as you say “I am gravitating on this one,” As for now you can use gravity to choose either to further delving deep into next paragraph or choosing to stop.

On Relationship

And *my oh my, I’m going to hate myself saying this* gravity might be the reason you fall in love.

On Everything Else

On everything and anything, gravity is all around you. It can be as easy as coin tossing, and as hurtful as falling and also as fatal as crashing. You can’t choose to be weightless in physical mass, but you can choose to be lighter.

People who should hate gravity rightfully are rocket scientists and environmentalist in sequence of cause and effects. Can you imagine the amount of rocket propellants used to launch a rocket against gravity to produce thrust just so a spaceship can reach lesser gravity (or constant state of freefall) thermosphere? Consequently the environmentalist will be driven mad as the propellants releases massive amount of green house gases.

On Me

Why GRAVITY is so special to me? It is because of the philosophical point and metaphorical side of it. “You had me at Philosophy,” and maybe it just merely GRAVITY.

Therefore I wrote entries on GRAVITY about how I interpret it in different situations and POV without any intention to sound educational whatsoever. From Newton to Einstein, I have no fondness to physics nonetheless. But some sort of physics theorem, apart from being a total headache to a right-brainer like me, is indeed beneficial and interesting. You can throw apples to me; you know once it hits me, it hits ground no matter what. I might eat it, but peristalsis still pulls it downward according to COMMON GRAVITY EQUATION which gives the acceleration due to gravity, g, here (g = 9.8 m/s^2) on the surface of Earth:

g = GM/r^2

Where M is the mass of the Earth, r the radius of the Earth (or distance between the center of the Earth and you, standing on its surface), and G is the gravitational constant (= 6.674×10^−11 N m^2 kg^−2).

So we thought gravity is just something falling or a motion heading downward. Little that we ever imagine it can act in any direction. Take centrifugation for instance. Then who on their rightful mind want to know this anyway.

In this entry, let us view the Physics aspect of gravity and how I see it with my corrupted philosophical view. As we all know, physicists have different interpretations of gravity that ended up in equations. The most common mentioned equation is ‘Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation‘

Wait…what the wrecked thing GRAVITY is? On loose terms, pay attention, this is where it gets interesting,

“It's a force of attraction that exists between any two objects that have mass. The more mass they have, the greater the force of attraction. The closer they are, the greater the force of attraction.”

Where:

F = is the magnitude of the gravitational force between the two point masses (N),

G = is the gravitational constant (6.674×10^−11 N m^2 kg^−2),

m1= is the mass of the first point mass,

m2 = is the mass of the second point mass, and

r = is radius of separation between the center of masses of each object.

-------------------------------

The equation itself can be applied in normal day relationship and almost in every aspect of life. I can humor myself saying if m1 is more than m2, then F will be in towards m1 given r is smaller in amount and G is not changed (thus constant).

In layman terms, if Individual X (m1) is more (let say attractive, funny, wealthy) than Individual Y (m2), the latter will get attracted to the former given they live closer or in close contact to each other (r) and the value of moral or ideal (G) is constant or preserved.

This explains how long-distance relationship is rarely working because the separation (r) is high. On the other hand, those who constantly closer to one another are likely to get attracted.

Infidelity and immoral relationship will never work because the norm, moral or ideal (G) is no longer preserved (or in constant uphold).

In a situation which m1 and m2 is similar in value, let say they both fairly richer, attractive, etceteras; attraction magnitude is fair though not as strong compare to those with higher difference gradient.

Opposite attraction does work because the difference in qualities and quantities exerts strong hold or force. Just like how moon is orbiting earth, vast different in masses will ensure stronger bond.

In conclusion, the reason we stand stable on earth because earth is larger than us, we stand above it, and as long as we preserved according to the norms or moral or ideal (constant) way of living, we will continue live in harmony. The moment any of the value is altered, that is when everything falls apart.

Let us now talk about break up, since it is a popular topic nowadays. We may feel that it’s hard to get over an ex because we built our orbit around them and their gravity is what keeps us whole and functional for a period of time before the ‘extraterrestrial storms’ blows and our love is shattered. It is an impact from an asteroid (e.g: third person, problems, infidelity) that pushes us aside from our orbit, forcefully.

Gravity what’s brings us closer, the closer we are, the stronger the bond, it needs greater amount of energy to weakened the bond, one can never exerts too much energy in an abrupt blow, it takes time. Time is a long but effective factor to get over one’s ex. While waiting that to happen, we are just like lonely little satellite travelling the vast outerspace until we are pulled by gravity onto next big planet on which we orbiting…at least until next extraterrestrial storm hits.

We the satellite may fall in love again, instead of saying “I Love You”, you might want to spice it up a bit, “I am Orbiting on You”

P.S

This is where Miss Bareilles’s song ‘Gravity’ from previous post applied. So hit play.
