We almost come to the end of the year now, so many thing 2004 have brought to my life. Talking about every priceless experience that I gain throughout these 365 days. Instead of adding another year to my age, I am maturing and independent now. I learned of being myself even better, how to make people respect you. It’s not by the way you look (which I am cute of course), but it is the way you elevate your integrity.
I’ve fell sick at the beginning of this year, which is not a good start. And I fell sick again by the end of this year. I got no idea how can it happen? It’s like an annually thing for me. But to be optimistic, it is good anyway for your immune response. At least your immune system did their job and gradually increasing their performance. Yeah whatever! Enough of being science-related in my life. Don’t need to be so in this journal. So statistical!
2004 is the first time I step on this very foreign land to me. Yes I saw it on TV for my entire life, but it’s different to actually see the same scenery, listen to its’ people for real. I mean... it’s real man! I have to travel far form my homeland the Borneo Island. How can I get used to this different civilization (not telling in the contact of Bornean is a lost city that we walk bare foot, hunting animals, live in a hut or what so ever). But to be honest, Malaysian Peninsularese is offensive then those at my place (not talking about them entirely, so no heartfelt). Starting from how they treat pedestrian, they are so rude they can’t even let people cross the road, not even slowing down their car. Instead they are speeding like hell (sorry to say this, but this is for real). Look how many criminals reported on TV mostly done by Peninsularese. Of course they’ll blame the immigrants but statistically, most of the criminal committed by citizen. Yes! Bornean did committed criminal but mostly an isolated cases. Maybe the desperation of living in this place really forcing them to do such things, I feel sorry for them. I can go forever with this but it is not good to compare or I will ended up cursed by this land.
Previously I was quite boring of my homeland; there is nowhere to go for a leisure time. There are no popular artists to be bumped with in the shopping mall. No huge events held there. Not so much concert performed. Even if there is, my city will be the last place to do it. If there is a certain big event happen there, it maybe because the Lady Luck accidentally pointed her starry wand there. There also no big building only the renowned natural attraction, Mount Kinabalu (which I haven’t got a chance to climb yet). Now you know where I came from. But now, I appreciated it (my homeland) even more. I missed it a lot!
Okay! Let’s get back to the main point. The first thing I have to change in order to adapt with these people is to change my slang. The first day I came, I am fully converted that no one knew I was from Sabah. That was happen when I first came to register at KUTPM. When I first meet my friend (which is my housemate a.k.a course mate now) they didn’t expect that I am Sabahan. They thought I have been living here for so long that I elastically trained my tongue. No! No! I am a cute-two-legged chameleon.
Why do I feel this story no longer interesting. My head felt so dizzy. God I am so cursed!!! Never mind! Let’s go on! Let me see! Where am I?
Yup! Enough of writing about this so big city. Okay! I learned about many things about living in this city the informal rules you have to follow in order to stay alive. Let’s check it out
‘The Top Ten Rules You Have To Follow In Order To Survive Big City As Kuala Lumpur.’
#10 If you happen to walk around a big city, ACT AS YOU ARE USED TO THAT CERTAIN PLACE.
#9 If you so rich that you wanted to open your wallet in front of others showing how much money you have, FORGET IT OR YOU’LL BE ROBBED.
#8 If you are so kind that you wanted to treat your Semanjungan's friend, THINK TWICE, THEY’LL TAKE ADVANTAGE TO BE TREAT EVERYTIME YOU GO OUT WITH THEM.
#7 LEARNS TO WALK IF YOU ARE GOING TO A PLACE LESS THEN 3KM! Taxi is so expensive and sometimes they cheat.
#6 If you are student, BE NICE TO THE PHOTOCOPY SHOP’S OWNER. YOU’LL KNOW WHY? AND IT IS GUARANTEED MUTUALLY OR BILATERALLY BENEFICIAL.
#5 Never buy an expensive hand phone, THEY’LL GOT OUTDATED TOO SOON.
#4 USED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION; you can’t afford so much time in jam.
#3 SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR CONCERTS
#2 SAVE YOU MONEY, this place standard of living is so high that I can guarantee you’ll spend RM100 in a week.
#1 DON’T EAT FISH! You can pay whole fish-less meal for a fish size like your palm.
I learned all this facts by experience. Actually, I have a millions of it but I think it is better if I write it in my weekly journal starting from now. So you’ll be interested to stay updated with my journal. I get so tense about the mid semester examination yet I don’t study much of my complicated subjects. How I hope that I have much time left every time I waste it.
New year! There you come and here I am! Am I ready or not? Oh I am so ready. Time is passing by so fast I can’t even realize that I am halfway to my working life. I’ll leave 2004 with so many sweet memories to be keep. Now I feel like crying! It’s like you are leaving your entire life behind and start over living in a new life. How can I forget the first time I am here. The first time I traveling by air plane, first time on KLIA express, LRT, Commuter first time this, first time that. I’m getting older and without realizing it I’ll be sitting in a bench at an old folks home remembering my lifetime then suddenly I get attack by stroke and die alone. I’m a child within even I am growing up physically. I love to play and be cheeky. I like to enjoy my life to the fullest. If I can let time pass only when I wanted it to be so, I will be the happiest person on earth better than the first time the whole mankind realizing that the world is actually a sphere so they can create karma such ‘what goes around, comes around’ (it’s always the round thing) which is undeniably true.
People with an optimist mind said ‘age is only a number’ but I like to say ‘age is the indicator how much time left to live’. Sometimes being optimist is fatal so be natural (meaning no pessimist though). I hate repeating it but I hate growing up and I hate seeing people growing up. One day he is a cute little boy that you can’t help yourself pinching his cheek, the next day he is a drug addict with a messy look. One day I am a cute little boy, the next day I am still cute. Wait a second, something not right here! Ignore it!!!
