Bilakah kali terakhir saya menulis? Oh soalan ini sebenarnya rhetorical. Hidup saya tidaklah se-interesting celebutante Hollywood. I’m just a medical student…
…a fourth year medical student…
*berhenti menulis sejenak*
Oh damn! Saya sudah berada di tahun ke-4. Who am I kidding?
Rotation pertama adalah Jabatan Perubatan untuk dua bulan. Bermakna saya akan berada di Jabatan Perubatan selama tiga bulan berturut-turut sebab last posting 3rd Year juga Medical Dept.
Saya sangat menyukainya sebab lecturer-lecturer sangat best. Contrary to popular belief, Dr. M adalah an interesting person that I am glad to know. The underdog Dr. TW adalah sangat amazing and very smart doctor and Dr. J yang menjadi kegemaran semua adalah sangat sempoi dan seronok to hang out with. Pendek kata, ketiga-tiga Specialists ini sebenarnya sangat sempoi, sebenarnya. Jadi saya tidak memahami segala rumors mengatakan betapa ‘super-freaking-scary’ medical rotation is. Saya sangat tidak paham. *menggaru-garu kepala*
Saya sangat bersyukur kali ini rotation bermula dengan Medical sebab segala asas perubatan bermula di sini; thorough History Taking, Physical Examination & Management et ceteras.
Perbincangan di tepi katil pesakit kini bukan lagi banyak berkenaan completeness of history taking and finesse of physical examination, tapi adalah Management of Patient. This is actually where you sounded like a real House Officers discussing patient’s management with Specialist (Lecturer) ketika ‘ward round’ (BST). Oh, to think about it induced my psychogenic cough. Recent BST dengan Dr. J dihabiskan dengan seorang patient sahaja, ‘Decompensated Heart Failure Secondary to Acute Coronary Syndrome’. Banyak masa digunakan untuk membincangkan management. Sudah mula membincangkan tentang medications. Kepala harus mula mengingati kelas-kelas ubat.
Dua minggu pertama adalah Cardiology Week. Sekarang instead of case hunting, my clique lebih prefer to do signs hunting. That is our SDL, kami mencari murmurs, crepes, displaced apex beat, hepatospleenomagly, liver flaps, 3rd degree fingers clubbing, etc. Bila dah dapat signs menarik, kena ‘fire flare gun’ to inform the rest of group to take turn examine them.
I believed we should not be selfish and keep everything to ourself, we should share every tiny minuscule knowledge we have with our peers, my parent thought me that. If it took you long time to make them understand, you do that. The more we give, the more God will repay you. Sometimes the journey is not about how far you’ve traveled, it is about how much you experience along the way, and how fun it is to travel in packs, so we will all reach our destination. InsyaAllah.
Oh ya, ketika saya memeriksa Feedjit traffic, saya dapati entry saya berkenaan ‘How To Mend a Broken Heart’ tiba-tiba mendapat traffic tinggi. Pelik, entry itu di-post September last year. Previously Bon Iver Album Review yang jadi main source of traffic surge. Entah sebab apa, adakah one of my readers men-StumbleUpon-kan ia. That entry is mostly crappiness. So take it with a pinch of salt (or a pack).
*after reviewing my writing, I realized that I had lost my rhythms in writing, maybe I should stick to writing case write-ups*
